I’m really impressed with the 3DS, especially since it creates that 3D effect without the need for glasses. It’s great to see that Nintendo are stepping out from pure gaming to 3D trailers… I wonder, is there hope for a portable 3D movie player at some point?

Haven premières 7th October on Syfy [UK]

Before we get going properly, can I just apologise for a bit of a glitch yesterday? I’m trying out Windows Live Writer and part of the setup involved creating a temporary post. Unfortunately I’d forgotten that would also trigger an e-mail and tweet about it… Sorry for the confusion.

Right, on to what I wanted to let you know about today. I got notification from SyFy UK that there’s a new series coming out on the 7th of October. The press release is below, but enjoy the trailer first!

It looks like an interesting ride and it definitely has a Stephen King feel to it. This looks like a fairly good bet for some decent telly. Let me leave you with the press release and, hopefully an appetite to catch Haven when it comes out.

HAVEN launches on Syfy on 7th October at 10pm

UK premiere series HAVEN, inspired by Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid, is set to launch in the UK in October – making its debut on Syfy and Syfy HD.

Deep in the heart of Maine, Haven is a place where the cursed have gathered for generations to lead normal lives. Only now those curses have started to come back. Enter FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose). Each week, her investigations will try to keep these supernatural forces at bay as she slowly unravels the many mysteries of Haven – including her own roots to this extraordinary place. Among the people who cross Audrey’s path along the way are local cop Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) and the mysterious and charming Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour).

Each suspense-filled episode focuses on Audrey’s investigation of a single afflicted individual. It’s a rollercoaster ride as Audrey and Nathan make new discoveries about the people in the town and come up with unexpected solutions.

The 13 x one-hour episodes kick off at 10pm on Thursday 7th October, airing weekly. Syfy is available on Sky 129 & HD 214, Virgin 135 & HD 165 and TalkTalk 22.

V episode 4 teaser now online

Just a quick post to brighten your Saturday morning! If you’ve been keeping up with the reimagined series of V on SyFy you’ll know just how good it is. It even inspired me to get the original miniseries from iTunes and see what started the whole thing off.

Anyway, the teaser for episode 4 is online, and I just wanted to share it with you.

Fallout 3: New Vegas Trailer Out

Fallout 3 is one of my all-time favourite Xbox360 games. I’ve been playing it since November 2008 and I’m still sure there’s more to discover!

Bethesda are gearing up to release the latest Fallout game, set in Las Vegas. It appears Vegas survived the nuclear war and even still has electricity – so it could be quite a different experience from Fallout 3. For an introduction to the game, have a watch of the teaser trailer:

If New Vegas plays as well as Fallout 3 then this is definitely one to look out for!

Predators Trailer out now

Thanks to Adam for the head-up that this trailer was out. It’s for Predators, the newest movie in the Predator franchise. Have a look:

Looks interesting, doesn’t it? I like the idea of exploring the Predators’ hunting culture but, if I’m honest, I’m just excited that there’s a new Predator movie coming out… and with loads of ’em!

What do you think of it? Looking forward to seeing it? Or does it look like a sequel too far? Tell us in the comments!

Tron: Legacy trailer out

Having already drooled over the visual effects concept video for Tron: Legacy, there’s now a proper trailer that gives us a bit more info on the storyline. Check it out below and, if you’re a geek of a certain age, prepare to revisit your childhood.

I remember seeing Tron as a child and being amazed by the visual style. It’s certainly the first film I remember that made serious use of computer-generated imagery. All that has become the norm now, but I’m loving the updated looks of Tron: Legacy.

What do you think of it though? Do you like the look? Will it achieve the same “cult” status the original Tron did? Or is it doomed to fail? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Tron: Legacy [Trailer/Teaser]

I saw Tron when I was a wee lad, and although I didn’t really understand it I did love the look of the film and the idea of being sucked into a computer game. It’s only grown on me as I’ve got older and understood more of the story and started to get some of the techie references.

Well, Disney have decided to have another crack at this brilliant film with Tron: Legacy. The story (from Apple’s trailer page) is:

Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

If ever there was a movie that would benefit from updates in special FX, Tron’s it – so enjoy this trailer/teaser/SFX test and get ready to wait for the release with all the geeky anticipation you can muster :)

More details (release date, locations etc.) will follow as and when we get them!
