Pinterest app now out for Android

After some time, Pinterest have finally published an official app for Android. The move, which also coincides with the release of an official app for the iPad, marks the end of a marketplace full of ‘Pinterest compatible’ apps in the marketplace which inevitably turn out to be a web browser set to go to Pinterest’s mobile site.

The Pinterest app contains all of the functionality that you’d expect: viewing things that your friends have pinned, searching for pinned images, seeing the most popular pins and even pinning things yourself.

This latter functionality works perhaps better on Android than it ever did on iOS, with the ‘share’ functionality baked into Android providing an easy way to pin pictures that have originated in almost any application.

The app is well polished in most senses, and I’m sure it’ll share the site’s reputation for frequent updates soon enough. It’s free for download in the Google Play marketplace, so whether you’ve got a Pinterest account or not you should download it and give it a shot.
