Disney to buy Marvel

Two of the giants of fantasy will join together as Disney plans to buy Marvel for a reported $4bn! The boards of both companies have approved the deal, but approval from shareholders and the US competition authorities is still needed.

If the deal goes ahead Disney will own the rights to characters like Spiderman, The X-Men, Iron Man and The Hulk. In fact, they’ll own a portfolio of over 5,000 characters… can you imagine how many new movies will be coming out as they find themselves with so many new characters to play with?

One question though, and please do have your say in the comments: will Disney be good custodians of the darker side of Marvel comics? I’d hate to see Wovlerine turned into Mr. Nice Guy…

So, what do you think of the merger?

Well I just hope that the action in Spiderman does not become overly friendly with the whole Disney theme. Marvel Spiderman comics were meant to be cool and filled with action and not a whole lot of oh Im sorry I wont hit you, here is a spider net like the one you use to see on electric company instead. lol
