Derren Brown, master of misdirection, is coming to Channel 4 (UK) soon with a new show called The Events. Here’s the blurb from the press release:
Derren Brown returns to Channel 4 this autumn with The Events – his most ambitious undertaking to date. Derren’s previous stunts have seen him cheat death playing Russian Roulette; convince people to rob an armoured security van; and beat the bookies with a foolproof horse race gambling system.
Derren’s been working on The Events for over a year, producing four highly complex shows of ‘misdirection’. Each event has an underlying theme, to trick, to win, to fool and, of course, to control.
And… the trailer (Don’t you fret, there will be more trailers released that actually explain something about the show!)
If Derren’s previous shows are anything to go by, this will be as baffling as it is brilliant… one to look out for :)

I’ve heard a lot of talk about it being related to a jewel heist – I’ve heard both a jewel and a large sum of money, but his blog recently posted something about the Hope Diamond so I am going for that. I’m following clues here:

There’s loads of hidden stuff on his blog, as well as competitions – there’s a lot of talk about the jewel heist and Derren being spotted in Manchester last week doing some filming – anyone else hear that??
I heard about that jewel thing too. Sound exciting!
And something about numbers. There are some in the trailer too. But not sure what they are refering too.
As for the blog: There is much talk going on, but to me it looks more like it give more secrets than answers. At least for now :/

@ Magic Monkey – I hadn’t heard about him being in Manchester, but that would maybe explain the Man Utd billboard in the background…
I’ve heard lots of people say it’s something to do with the lottery, because of the numbers and the logo in the trailer. That could explain the ‘to win’ part, I guess. Derren being spotted in Manchester may be to do with Manchester United, seeing how the trailer references them on the backwards billboard. Can’t wait for the series to start — I’m very curious now!

Yeah people keep mentioning about him being in Manchester, not sure about the United thing myself. At the moment, judging from the hidden clues in his blog, I’m suspecting something like a jewel heist as well, but I guess only time will tell.
I’ve also heard about the lottery – but also the “red&black” written on the truck makes me think of roulette? Also there are two hidden websites you can find by following the links in the advertisement that is on the wall behind Derren.

Yeah, this is just getting weirder and weirder!! I was in Manchester when they were doing the filming that Magic Monkey mentions…. and i think i may have seen Derren heading into the high street!!! sooooo exciting.
I still think its to do with the Jewel Heist… all those references to the recent Jewel Heist on the blog, the Hope Diamond… the “It will be you” banner on the bus in the trailer kinda reminiscent of similar subliminal banners in “The Heist” special. Although this whole reverse thing has me confused!?? is he gonna attempt to return the jewels?? and im kinda worried about the whole idea that the show will be interactive! is he gonna attempt to control the viewers??! i cant wait! not long now… but im sure more speculation will air before this….
