The BBC announced the actor who will play the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor tonight in a 45th Anniversary Special of Doctor Who Confidential.
The new actor will be the youngest ever to play the Doctor at 26 years of age.
OK, enough faffing about. The eleventh Doctor will be… Matt Smith. Matt has previously been in Party Animals and The Ruby In The Smoke. I have to admit that I haven’t seen either of those series, so haven’t seen him acting. The Doctor Who team seem very pleased with their decision, however. We’ll see what happens in 2010 when he takes over the TARDIS.
David Tennant still has several special episodes to go this year, with the new series starring Matt being broadcast in 2010.
