June Roundup

by Chris on July 4, 2008

Well, June was a bit of a funny month for Geek-Speak. Firstly, Adam wrote a post that everyone seemed to enjoy and sent over 30,000 hits to the site… which meant the bandwidth limit turned out to be a bit low. Not to worry, we bought a larger hosting package. Now thoughts turn to how to sustain that level of traffic and whether there are any ways we can generate a little cash to support the site.

Anyway, you don’t want to know that. Here are the most popular posts last month:

  1. Take a chill-pill and click – Adam’s excellent post on chilled-out flash games. This, understandably, turned out to be very popular and was visited 37,810 times last month! It’s still an excellent post – take a look, and spread the word if you think it’s worth it.
  2. Remember everything with Evernote – A look at the Evernote notetaking application (which, incidentally, has just gone to open beta so you won’t need an invite any more)
  3. How do fuel cells work? – A look at the technology and science behind fuel cells.
  4. Is submitting your own content to social sites OK? – A short opinion piece on whether it’s acceptable to submit your own posts and articles to sites like Digg, Delicious, or StumbleUpon.
  5. ISPs and data snooping – A post on ISPs’ plans to snoop on user data to “combat piracy”.

This month’s top traffic source, with 88% of traffic, was StumbleUpon.
