In my previous post I got all emotional about twitter and I spoke about a desktop client called twhirl. Well… I’ve just downloaded it (see above) and its working great… giving an audio and visual clue when a new tweet comes in… freeing up firefox and no longer requiring me to refresh everytime I viewed the tab.
I like it already… oh and its free!

Twhirl’s great, but it occasionally freezes on me. Not sure if it was a memory problem, since it doesn’t seem to have happened since I upgraded, but it was a bit annoying.
Having said that – I agree with you… it’s much better than having to keep checking twitter.com for new messages.
Edit: Looks like it was a memory problem – it usually crashed when I was shutting the computer down, but it’s been perfect since the upgrade.
